I use the drawing process to develop ideas and express my reactions to the subject, which is predominantly the figure. Some drawings happen, some struggle, some fall by the wayside. The whole act of drawing absorbs me, the passion for this medium has never left; it continues to beguile me.
I draw on paper. My aim is for each drawing to be strong enough to work within its own space. The choice of paper, its quality, size, colour and how it takes drawing materials all contribute to the final image and to a certain extent guide my actions. I rely on my interactions with marks made and taken away and how they sit on the paper alongside my feelings for the subject.
Hopefully these reproductions will give you a feel for my work, which can be viewed at my studio by arrangement. I am happy to undertake and discuss commissioned work.
